WESTON,
CONNECTICUT
Weston lies directly north of Westport’s shoreline
community one hour from New York City. Rich in rustic New
England flavor, with a determination to preserve its rural
landscape, almost a quarter of the town is permanently devoted
to natural open space. The scenic, hilly countryside is dotted
with ponds, rivers and the pristine Saugatuck Reservoir. Hiking
enthusiasts frequent Devil’s Den Nature Conservancy,
a 1,700 acre preserve, while others visit the 53 acre Biseglie-Scribner
Park providing active recreation with picnic facilities, a
swimming pond, and the Kiwanis Fitness Trail. Six tennis courts
are located at the high school. There is a private tennis
club and several private country and golf clubs in the area.
A myriad of activities is offered through the Parks and Recreation
Commission. Country fairs and farmer’s markets are frequent
weekend events. A hometown feeling is evident during the Memorial
Day and July Fourth Celebrations. Its 9,000 residents have
a strong sense of community, and an active town government.
Their “Blue Ribbon” school district is widely
admired as one of the premier systems in the country, with
one Elementary school and Middle and one High School.
Weston shares some services and amenities with its sister
town, Westport, such as access to the Westport beaches, the
ever-popular YMCA, abundant shopping, restaurants, and the
Westport Country Playhouse.
